A new feature on our web site is our Ride Oklahoma YouTube channel. This allows us to easily post video on our web site so that anyone with a web browser, iPhone, Tivo, Apple TV or other DV-style device can easily find and view our video clips. We are planning to expand our video content on the web by doing video stories, interviews, destination stories, and event reports. We feel strongly that with the growing popularity of entertainment sources such as YouTube and the Internet, readers will find new ways of finding entertainment. Traditional television and radio is already suffering severely from the impact of the Internet, and with today's economy we see this change accelerating. Already it is estimated 20% of homes use a DVR to skip television commercials - while at the same time television viewership has dropped nearly 20% in two years. This means the cost per eyeball for traditional television is increasing rapidly - not to mention the vast majority of the eyeballs that DO see your ad on television are not remotely interested in your product. With targeted video content on our web site, you know that people who watch our clips on the Internet are there because they are interested in the sport. The quality of eyeballs is much, much better with Internet video advertising than with traditional television. Radio is in much the same shape, with the explosion of iPods and satellite radio. Face it, online is where it is at in the future, and Ride Oklahoma plans to be in a position to take advantage of this. We don't think a high quality printed magazine is going to go away anytime soon, but to get maximum impact a magazine needs to build a "community" around the content, with a strong on-line presence. To that end we see online video as a strategic growth area for us. We can leverage our Ride Oklahoma "brand" and use the magazine to help drive eyeballs to our web site. Our goal is to become the authoritive source for motorcycling information in Oklahoma - the first place where people go on the Internet to find out about riding in Oklahoma. Stay tuned as we grow our online video products! |
